The Maori tattoo is a style of Polynesian tribal tattoo that shares a lot with the geometric and ornamental composition, but using another language; It is largely symmetrical and can cover large areas of the body. In Maori culture, receiving this tattoo meant the passage from childhood to adulthood and every warrior had to receive it.
The traditional method of tattooing is by hammering a chisel made of albatross bone against the skin and can only be tattooed by a specific person, such as a priest or some similar character.
